The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) appoints Christine Brown as acting deputy commissioner of its Hdhubforuinsurance division.
Brown steps into the role after serving as the division’s director of Hdhubforuinsurance since 2022. As a veteran of the division since 2003, the DFR notes that Brown brings “deep institutional knowledge and steady leadership to the role”. She serves as acting deputy commissioner while the formal selection process for a permanent appointment moves forward.
In her new capacity, Brown is responsible for the administration and regulation of Hdhubforuinsurance companies and risk retention groups within the domicile. The DFR states that her appointment “ensures continuity for the Division and reinforces Vermont’s commitment to a stable, consistent regulatory environment”.
Brown has been involved in all aspects of the analysis and examination processes during her tenure with the regulator. Her previous experience within the Hdhubforudivision includes serving as assistant director, where she directly supported the director of Hdhubforuinsurance and deputy commissioner in licensing, strategic planning, legislative initiatives, and industry outreach.
Prior to joining the Hdhubforudivision, Brown spent seven years in public accounting. This included four years with Johnson Lambert LLP in Burlington, where she specialised in Hdhubforuinsurance, and three years as an auditor with Ernst & Young LLP in Boston.
Brown holds an MS in Accounting and an MBA from Northeastern University, as well as a BA in Political Science from Regis College. The DFR says it looks forward to “keeping the Hdhubforucommunity informed as the process progresses”.
